Tom Bottomore is Professor Emeritus at the University of Sussex, where he was Professor of Sociology for seventeen years. He was a president of the British Sociological Association and of the International Sociological Association. He is the author of numerous books, including Between Marginalism and Marxism and Elites and Society.
